Troubleshoot the Navigation Pane
I'm trying to select multiple contact folders in the Navigation Pane.
My Navigation Pane is missing.
- The Navigation Pane has been turned off or another person's folder has been opened in a new window. To display the Navigation Pane, on the View menu, click Navigation Pane.
My folder is missing.
- Only folders containing items of the same item type that is active are displayed. Subfolders (such as a calendar folder under an e-mail folder), will not show in the Mail pane. When you have folders of one item type in the folder of another item type, switch to the Folder List pane. On the Go menu, click Folder List.
- The folder may have been deleted from Favorite Folders in the Mail pane. Deleting a folder here deletes the corresponding folder in the Folder List.
My shortcuts on the Outlook Bar disappeared when I upgraded to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
- Any shortcuts that you previously added to the Outlook Bar for files or locations outside of Outlook, such as Microsoft Word files or Web sites, are automatically migrated to the Shortcuts pane in the Navigation Pane. Shortcuts to Outlook folders will also be automatically migrated to the corresponding pane. For example, a calendar shortcut will be added to the Calendar pane. Public folder shortcuts now display in the Favorites folder under Public Folders in the Folder List pane.
I want to turn off grouping for all my e-mail folders.
- Grouping cannot be turned off globally. To turn it off for each folder, click the folder. On the View menu, point to Arrange By, and then click Show in Groups.
Some of my links have disappeared in the Navigation Pane.
- The TaskPad was on, but it is now turned off. When the Taskpad is off, the Date Navigators display in the Navigation Pane, and the other content moves down. To turn on the TaskPad, in the Calendar pane, on the View menu, click Taskpad.
I don't want to see or use the Navigation Pane.
- To turn off the Navigation Pane, on the View menu, click Navigation Pane, and then use the Go menu to navigate between your folders.
